Current Priorities

Issue

We have been receiving frequent reports about an increase in anti-social behaviour in our area. Anti-social behaviour (ASB) is the term given to behaviours and activities which cause harm or distress to an individual, community or neighbourhood. Neighbourhoods can be an area where you live, work, or visit often

Patrols will be increased in the areas we are receiving reports from and those found to be involved will be referred to our anti-social behaviour team

Anti-social behaviour can have a detrimental effect on communities, we encourage residents to report any problems they are having via 999 for emergencies, 101 for non-emergencies or via our website.

Action

Wincanton Neighbourhood Team will be conducting patrols around planned areas where we are receiving reports and intelligence of ASB.
If you believe your local area is subject to ASB we highly encourage this to be reported so that we can get a better understanding of what is happening in your area.
We will utilise ASB tools to reduce and stop the problem.

Issue

Wincanton Rural Neighbourhood Team have seen an increase in reports around hunting, hare coursing and poaching. We aim to establish better communications with our rural communities to address these issues and to encourage reporting.

Action

Wincanton Rural Neighbourhood Team are still utilising our patrols plans around intelligence led reports on hunting, hare coursing and poaching.
We still encourage reports to be made to help us get a better understanding on what is happening in your area. If you feel like contact from us in person would be better you can contact our mailbox for a member of our team to speak with you and arrange an appointment.

Issue

We have received reports of motorbikes/motocross bikes being targeted and stolen across our rural area.

Please be vigilant when returning from a motocross/motorbike event of anyone one/vehicle acting suspicious and please don't hesitate to report any concerns.

Please also get in touch should you wish to discuss further crime prevention advice.

Action

We have seen a reduction in theft of motocross and motorbikes in the area.
We still advise owners of these vehicles to continue to be vigilant and please report any suspicious behaviour to Police.  Reports can be made via 999 for emergencies, 101 for non-emergency reports or online.
Please make contact if you require any crime prevention advice, we are also available to conduct site assessments for any property or land that may need some target hardening advice.
