Current Priorities
Issue
Now that the school holidays are here and we expect the parks to be much busier, the local Neighbourhood Team will be out in force. We look forward to engaging with everyone. Please come and say hello.
If you are a victim of any anti social behaviour or a victim of a crime please report to us on 101 0r 999.
Issue
Farm WatchRural crimes can be reduced by the use of Watch schemes.
By using your knowledge and awareness of what is happening on and around your land, you can help to reduce crime and deter criminals.
Aims of the Farm Watch Scheme
- To reduce local opportunities for rural crime.
- To reinforce the community spirit so that everyone can contribute towards the protection of their property by mutual co-operation and communication.
- To introduce early warning systems in farming and countryside areas.
- To improve the intelligence flow between the agricultural communities and the police.
- Text, email and landline voicemail alerts for members of the community.
- Intelligence gathered by police on all farm-related crimes and suspicious incidents.
- Visits from local PCSOs.
- Crime Reduction Officers can offer advice on securing property and, under certain circumstances, will visit farms to conduct a crime prevention survey.
- A reduction in crime and the fear of crime impacting on the community.
- Suspicious people and vehicles can quickly be reported to the police and other members of the countryside communities.
- Information and advice can be quickly and efficiently circulated between the police and the community.
- A crime vigilant community in partnership with the police will create a safer environment.
To join the Farm Watch Scheme or to find out more information, email [email protected].
Suspicious activity should be monitored and recorded discreetly and reported to us quickly and accurately.
Action
We are continuing with our rural patrols and will be advertising dates and areas where we will be parking up with our mobile police station. This will give you an opportunity to come along and speak to local officers about any problems or concerns you may have.
Issue
Come and show us areas where you feel vulnerable or unsafe in your neighbourhood.
Our Walk and Talks are open to women aged 18 and above who wish to share their worries or concerns regarding their safety in their local community with a female police officer or PCSO. To apply: www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/apply/walk-and-talk
We also offer this to students aged 11-17 years old and promote this within our secondary schools in Yeovil. If you have a female student at a secondary school and feel they would benefit from this, please speak to your respective school who can facilitate the registration of interested students when they return to school in September.
