Current Priorities

Issue

We welcome feedback from the public and want you to engage with us. Let us know about the issues you have in your area, how we can support your community. We want to know what type of engagement you would like us to do in your area on a regular basis.

This could include:
  • Talk to Us sessions where you can come along and speak to us about policing issues or crime prevention advice, and find out who we are and what we do
  • Policing Masterclasses where we can deliver an event to educate communities about issues such as; drugs, ASB, fraud, child sexual exploitation or modern day slavery and provide signposting to support agencies
We would also like to see an increase in Community SpeedWatch and Neighbourhood Watch schemes, where communities take ownership for issues in their area, play a pivotal role in helping to tackle issues and get regular support from the police. If you have any information about criminality or issues in your area or would like more information about the schemes and engagements mentioned, please contact us using the form at the bottom of our team page.

Action

Two new Speedwatch groups have started in Backwell and I will be aiming to join them on some of their Speedwatch sessions

Issue

Current Locations:Long pathway (behind Skylark Grove), Wrington  Please note: StreetSafe is not for reporting crimes or emergencies. If you witness a crime or emergency, please call the police on 101 or report a crime online. If you're unsure whether something is a crime or not, read our advice.

Examples of situations that should be reported to StreetSafe include a poorly lit alleyway that makes you feel unsafe or a park with broken equipment that poses a safety hazard.

Action

If you have areas that you would like to have patrolled more regularly, please let us know. Similarly, any areas that you feel are unsafe for any reason, talk to us and we can look at ways to increase the safety of these areas.

Issue

We have seen an increase in the number of complaints around people using residential streets to park their vehicles while they go on holiday.

Where vehicles are parked illegally, dangerously or causing an obstruction, we will issue a ticket and authorise removal of the vehicle if appropriate for the offence; this will result in a fine and a release fee for the vehicle as well as a daily charge for the storage of the vehicle.

Action

A collaborative effort involving the airport, neighborhood policing team, planning department, and immigration personnel was recently conducted with notable success. The team visited rogue car parking businesses and provided guidance on compliant practices. As a result, there has been a reduction in vehicles left on the roadside. Additionally, several taxis were removed from the roads for various reasons. We will continue to monitor these activities and remain committed to further reducing roadside parking.

Come to Backwell Playing fields and have your bike security marked by Neighbourhood officers. Bike register is a secure method of ensuring your bike is easily identifiable, should it be stolen. The service is free and all we ask is that you bring a clean adult sized bike with details of the frame number, and we will security mark with the Bike register stickers for free.
