Current Priorities
Issue
VAWG is a strategic priority and we are committing to a local action plan which sets out our activity against national frameworks.
Our approach is aligned to the three objectives in the NPCC and College of Policing’s ‘Police action to combat violence against women and girls’:
- improve trust and confidence in policing
- relentlessly pursuing perpetrators
- creating safer spaces
Action
Members of your local neighbourhood team have been distributing and promoting the use of tools and apps that are created to keep people safe. This includes:
the launch of the Safer streets app and patrolling reported areas
promoting Hollie Guard app
distributing personal panic alarms
Issue
The Neighbourhood team has been working with the Anti-Social Behaviour Team in Avon and Somerset, Town wardens, local businesses and councils to tackle the problems that young people have been causing the town. The Neighbourhood Team have been completing proactive hi-visibility patrols to engage with the youth in the town and to deter this behaviour.
Action
Patrols are continuing in hotspot locations as a way to deter crime and anti social behaviour
Issue
The Neighbourhood team are completing hi-visibility patrols to try and disrupt the people committing shop theft. We aim to do this with regular engagement with local store and dealing with any offences or anti-social behaviour robustly and positively.
Action
The local neighbourhood team are continuing to do regular visits to local businesses as well as proactive patrols to try and deter any issues and to reassure shop owners and staff of our presence.
