Operated by: Avon and Somerset Constabulary
Neighbourhood Policing Team for Minehead.
Current Priorities
Issue
The police in Minehead continue to investigate drug activity in Minehead, including drug dealing.
Officers are carrying out high-visibility patrols around the town and will conduct stop-searches on those who are suspected to be involved in criminal activity with an aim to hold individuals who are involved accountable for their actions and to disrupt activity.
If you have any information which can assist the police, contact us online or by calling 101. In case of emergencies, always call 999. Alternatively, information can be submitted anonymously via Crimestoppers.
Action
We really appreciate information given to us by our communities. We hope that the community are seeing the positive impact that their information has had in making our community a safer place.
Please do not hesitate to continue to provide us with information surrounding drug activity. This can be done by calling 999 or 101, alternatively reports can be made online or in person. We have a lovely new police station located at Stephenson Road, Minehead.
Issue
Minehead Police are aware of anti-social behaviour (ASB), including begging, in some of our residential town areas and public spaces. Focused patrols will be conducted in these areas.
If you are a victim of ASB or witness any behaviour deemed to be anti-social, please report to us. Non-emergencies ASB reports can be made online, or call 999 in an emergency.
Action
The Minehead team have been working with local businesses in response to the increase in reports of youths causing issues in the town centre.
We have identified individuals involved and appropriate action will be taken against them.
Issue
We are reaching out in the community to vulnerable members of the public to offer crime prevention and personal safety advice. To educate people about fraud through our fraud talks and reduce violence against women and girls through continued promotion of Street Safe.
For groups interested in booking a fraud talk, contact us via this form or by telling us in person at one of our events.
We have circulated information regarding crime prevention to the local Talking Cafe or you can visit our enquiry office at the Minehead Police Station, Stephenson Road, Minehead. The office is open Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 18:00.
For more crime prevention advice, go to our website.
Action
We welcome feedback from the public and want you to engage with us. We want you to let us know about the issues you have in your area, how we can support your community and what you would like us to do in your area on a regular basis; that could be a ‘Talk to Us’ surgery were you can come along and speak to us about policing issues or to get crime prevention advice and find out who we are and what we do or we can run policing Masterclasses where we can deliver an event to educate communities about Drugs, ASB, Fraud, Child Sexual Exploitation, Modern Day Slavery etc. and provide signposting to support agencies.
This can also be to report suspicious behaviour and to provide intelligence to the Police, the intelligence we receive from members of the public is crucial to us and even a small piece of information can be the missing piece we need.
Issue
There has been increased reports of anti-social driving mainly around the seafront areas of the town.
Increased dedicated patrols will be carried out by officers in an effort to not only deter this behaviour but identify individuals involved in the anti-social behaviour.
There are a number of options we will consider when tackling anti-social driving, consequences of this can be points, disqualification and/or having your car seized
Action
Our local neighbourhood policing team have had support from local response teams and road policing team in targeting anti-social and dangerous driving.
As a result of this, a Section 59 RTA warning was given to a driver. This will mean that should the same vehicle or driver continue to drive anti-socially in the area then their vehicle can be seized by Police.
