Current Priorities
Issue
Often, as we approach the upcoming Christmas period, burglaries increase so police are urging all residents not to keep valuables in the usual places, such as the main bedroom, in view of the main road etc. and take any necessary steps to secure your property/valuables. If you have a safe installed in the house, make sure it is fixed securely and cannot simply be lifted out of the property. If you see or hear anything suspicious, please call the police on 999.
Issue
Please do not be duped by these individuals who often prey on vulnerable/elderly people. If you feel pressured into having work done on your property and you are not offered 14 day cooling off period please call South Glos Trading Standards.
The local beat team would like to remind the community around rogue traders activities. We are working very closely with South Glos Trading Standards to prevent and detect this type of crime.. There are laws around these types of activities. Thornbury and surrounding areas have also recently been targeted by these offenders and large amounts of cash have been paid for little or no work on their properties. Please keep an eye for your elderly, vulnerable neighbours, who are often the victims of these types of crimes.
Issue
The local neighbourhood policing team have recently teamed up with the Environmental Enforcement Team of South Glos Council targeting vehicles carrying waste. There are more dates planned for the future.
Help us stamp out fly tipping. If someone takes your rubbish, always make sure they’re a registered waste carrier. Recent fly tipping at Redham Lane, Pilning and Hollywood Lane, Easter Compton. If you see any suspicious vehicles dumping rubbish, call the police or the local authority. Make sure you also pass any registration numbers on if you have them.
Issue
Ongoing patrols in and around B4055 regarding reports of HGVs using this location as a cut through from M5 to A403.
Speed restrictions also in place at the location and this is also being monitored by police.
If you witness HGV using the B4055 please report the registration number via 101 and the local neighbourhood policing team will contact the registered keeper and give strong words of advice.
If police witness these type of offences they will be dealt with at the time.
Issue

Issue
Ongoing problem at Western Approach Avonmouth. Multiple cars meet at the location often travelling at speed and causing issues at the roundabouts. This is a difficult situation to police, due to the large volumes of vehicles that turn up. Police are encouraging members of the public to report the situation at the time to enable traffic officers or the local neighbourhood policing team to turn up and show a presence.
Issue
There has been an increase in Rural Crime activities in Alveston, Oldbury and Littleton-upon-Severn. The local beat team are working closely with the Rural Crime team. We are gathering intel regarding these issues and encourage the public to call at the time.
Rural crime is an issue for large areas of the country but it tends to go unreported. It can impact on insurance premiums, food prices and damage local communities.
If you think an offence has or is about to be committed, let us know. If you’re not sure it’s a crime, we’d rather hear from you and determine that ourselves. If you see or hear anything suspicious, please call 101 or 999. Become a member of Farm watch/Horse watch. Call to speak to PCSO Paula Perry on 07889658237.Issue
Community Engagement Forums (CEF), previously known as Safer and Stronger Community Groups, in South Gloucestershire, are about listening and responding to local people’s real issues. People in their communities know best what works for them and what their real needs are.
The aims are:
- to promote pride in the local area as a safe, thriving and pleasant place to live, work and play
- to reduce crime, disorder and drug and alcohol misuse in the area
- to empower local people to have a greater voice and influence over local decision making and service delivery by increasing the strength, capacity and engagement of the local community
- to improve the quality of life of people in the local area by identifying community aspirations, needs and local priorities.
Please support your local CEF meeting.
For future dates please contact South Gloucester Council
