Current Priorities

Issue

The Neighbourhood Policing Team are looking into various reports of ASB in and around Peasedown St John, particularly on Orchard Way. In recent weeks damage has been caused to bus shelters and trees. Also, there have been incidents of doors being knocked on in the very early hours and reports that a group of young males are involved in killing wildlife such as birds and hedgehogs.

The group of young males involved in this behaviour are said to be aged around 14 years.  Although the number of official reports to Police is limited the Neighbourhood Team are aware of several incidents that have not been reported.

We are asking the public to report incidents of criminal damage wildlife crime and ASB to Police either by calling 101 or filling out an online report using the link below.  If you have any information as to the identity of those responsible for any of the incidents described, please contact your local Neighbourhood Policing Team

Action

The neighbourhood team have been distributing letters to homes around Orchard Way asking for information or any CCTV / ring doorbell footage that might help to identify the offenders. A copy of the letter can be found below. We have had a recent report of an injury to a cat that might possibly have been caused by a catapult, and some information regarding marbles being fired at a property close to Orchard Way.

Issue

The above issue is a forcewide priority for Avon and Somerset Constabulary to make women feel safer walking, predominantly after dark, in their communities.

Reports can be made via – Report feeling unsafe in public spaces (StreetSafe) | Avon and Somerset Police or a walk and talk with a female officer can be arranged via – Walk and Talk | Avon and Somerset Police

Issue

The use of mechanically propelled transport such as E Scooter or E Bicycles that do not require pedalling is not permitted on the road or any public spaces including footpaths and bridle ways.  They are covered by the same laws and regulations that cover all motor vehicles. As such if you are caught using such transport you are liable to the same penalties as if you were using a motor vehicle.  Such as fines or penalty points under Road Traffic Regulations including seizure of the transport device.  In recent months we have received a number of complaints about the use of E Transport in Peasedown St John, Neighbourhood Officers will be speaking to E Transport users to educate and if necessary, enforce current legislation.

Action

A nuisance motorcycle that has been ridden illegally in and around Peasedown St John was seized by neighbourhood officers in Timsbury. It is believed that this motorcycle was a community bike used by multiple young people. The bike was not taxed or insured and has been causing a nuisance for several weeks, being ridden in a dangerous and anti-social manner.
