Current Priorities

Issue

Using a combination of your feedback and our own data, we have set the below priorities for your local neighbourhood policing team across the Wisbech area of Fenland.

(Covering Wisbech, Elm, Friday Bridge, Coldham, Guyhirn, Murrow, Wisbech St Mary, Leverington, Tydd Gote, Parsons Drove, Newton)

For April to June 2025 these were:
• Street drinking and associated anti-social behaviour in Wisbech town centre
• Youth-related anti-social behaviour in Wisbech town centre
• Retail theft at Horsefair Shopping Centre

Action

• Street drinking and associated anti-social behaviour in Wisbech town centre:
Officers have been working closely with partner agencies to support those with alcohol needs to divert them away from the town centre and to engage with the various departments. Officers are actively patrolling the Public Space Protection Order areas to prevent frequent spates of alcohol associated anti-social behaviour.

• Youth-related anti-social behaviour in Wisbech town centre:
Officers have seized e-scooters and electric bikes used by youths causing issues in the town centre. Officers are actively targeting individuals using these bikes in the town centre and will continue to do so when out on patrols.

• Retail theft at Horsefair Shopping Centre:
Officers have been working with the business community to support the retail stores with this type of offending. Prolific offenders are being targeted by the team and those arrested are being processed through the court system.

Issue

Using the same metrics, the priorities for July to September 2025 are:

• Retail crime across Wisbech town centre – focusing on prevention of offences impacting the business community, as well as enforcement against offenders
• Anti-social behaviour in Wisbech town centre – including e-scooter use, street drinking, drug dealing and illegal parking
• High-visibility policing in Wisbech town centre – including increasing visibility and engagement during the nighttime economy

Action

Work is underway to address these issues. Further updates will be available soon.
