Local community members have recently raised concerns after noticing an increase in national social media posts showing individuals carrying knives.

In response, as part of Operation Sceptre, we have conducted proactive knife sweeps in Whitby Park to help keep our public spaces safe. To further engage the community and raise awareness, we brought the Manchester Anti-Violence Bee to display in Whitby Park, using it as a powerful symbol to start conversations, with our local community about the impact of knife crime. We also invited our local primary schools to educate young people about the dangers of carrying knives and the importance of making positive choices, reinforcing our commitment to preventing knife crime through both enforcement and education.
