https://www.cumbria.police.uk/Allerdale Police recently conducted a community survey for the Workington area and surrounding villages and wish to thank those who took the time to complete this.
One of the main issues raised was youth related anti-social behaviour in the Seaton area. Please be reassured that your local officers are aware of this issue and have been proactively patrolling the area over the last couple of weeks and will continue to do so. A number of youths have already been identified as a result.
Our local officers will continue to address these issues over the coming weeks, conducting hi visibility patrols in the specific areas, engaging with the local community and taking steps to identify any person contributing to this issue.

Operation Enhance is a force wide hot spot policing operation funded by the home office.
Officers are regularly on dedicated High-visibility patrols to target areas with disproportionately high levels of serious violence and anti-social behaviour.
Issue
ASB/drug related activity - Town Centre
YOU SAID: Ongoing drug ASB and drug related ASB and criminality at a business premises
Action
WE DID:
Engaged with the business and offering crime prevention advice and signposting.
HVP in the areas and prevalent times.
Identified and dealt with one youth responsible for a Section 4A public order offence and criminal damage.
Reported one youth for possession of Class B Cannabis.
NPT Officer stop searched a male on 3 occasions in a matter of weeks and he was found to be in possession of Class B Cannabis. The male has been reported to court for the offences.
NPT Officer stop searched an 18-year-old male who was found to be in possession of Class B Cannabis. The male was referred for intervention and support.
HVP in the areas at prevalent times.
Male stopped searched on Central Way and located with Cannabis – currently being dealt with for this offence.
X2 youths stop searched on Queen Street and arrested for possession of Cannabis and going equipped – both have been released on bail.
Between 14th February and 23rd February Officers have stop searched 12 individuals. x1 male located with Cannabis, x1 male located with a fake ID and taken home, x1 male arrested for shoplifting, x1 male located with alcohol and taken home and x3 males taken home after being located on a building site.
Officers arrested x1 male for assault and x2 assault on an Emergency worker – he has been dealt with for these offences.

Shoplifting and offences in Workington Town Centre
Action
WE DID:
Arrested and charged prolific offender Kimberley Bennewith for 5 offences of theft by shoplifting in Workington and 5 Offences of Breach of Criminal Behaviour Order. As a result Bennewith has received 8 weeks custodial.
WE DID:
Ongoing patrols in the town centre and engagement with business premises and staff
Issue
YOU SAID: Reports of youths involved in acquisitive crime, going equipped to steal and carrying weapons in the Workington area.
Action
WE DID: This is a priority the team are to address over the coming weeks and months with the following:-
High visibility and plain clothes patrols to be carried out in the areas identified as hotspot locations.
Presence to be advertised via social media for public reassurance.
Work with partner agencies to address issues long term.
Positive action will be taken to deter offenders from committing offences and to proactively deal with those identified as committing offences or being involved.
WE DID:-
Over the past month 3 males have been arrested for offences relating to theft of bikes, attempt theft of a pedal cycle, going equipped, possession of Cannabis, burglary and theft from business premises. All 3 are on bail with conditions.

Continue to provide hi visibility patrols at prevalent times to address this issue and deal proactively with those responsible whilst supporting victims of crime

Conducted Stop Searches
WE DID:
Conducted a bike marking event on 14th March at Workington Leisure Centre for members of the public to attend. Anyone who is interested in this scheme please contact Allerdale NPT
WE DID:
Utilised the Police drone to identify those individuals using off road bikes. One male was stopped by police, had his bike seized and was found in possession of Cannabis.

WE DID: Assist in setting up Workington Pub watch Scheme with landlords and partner agencies to reduce alcohol related crime and anti-social behaviour.
Engagement with Landlords of licensed premises and partner agencies
To incorporate both preventative measures and enforcement tools to address issues in the community.
To enable members to communicate with each other about suspicious behaviour and those engaging in violent behaviour or ongoing incidents.
We are appealing for anyone who is interested in taking part in this scheme to make contact with Allerdale Neighbourhood policing team for further information on up and coming meetings to discuss this.
One male arrested for a hate related offences in Workington Town centre whilst under the influence. The male has been subsequently bailed pending further enquires
