Speeding and ASB driving in the Town centre

- Speed Indication Device Installed on Battlebarrow. 29,193 vehicles activated the device and the 85th Percentile speed was 33.1MPH. Although over the posted speed limit, this is within tolerated limits as determined by the National Police Chiefs Council for determining excessive speeding issues. As such, this does not meet the threshold for enhanced police monitoring. The location will however continue to be subject to routine monitoring and enforcement by local officers.

- The location has also been jointly reviewed with Highways colleagues, who are liaising with the town council with a view to permanent Speed Indications Devices being fitted on both Battlebarrow and Bongate.

- 377 Traffic Offence Reports were also issued during policing operations in the town centre.

- Op colossus is being launched to focus on ASB driving and road safety. Results to follow.
