Current Priorities

Issue

1 Anti-Social Behaviour
2 Drug Dealing
3 Nuisance bikes - E- Scooters
4 Vulnerability – Cuckooing

Action

1. Anti-Social Behaviour
The Safer Neighbourhood Team will carry out high-visibility patrols in the following locations: Allenton Shops, Alvaston Shops, Alvaston Park, and We Are Padel at Pride Park Stadium.
They will engage with young people and arrange mobile youth provision, supporting communities alongside our Youth Engagement Officers.
We will deliver educational inputs into schools, signpost young people to diversionary activities, and raise awareness of how such behaviour impacts the community.
We will visit young people at home and speak to parents, making them aware of their child’s behaviour.
We will incorporate Acceptable Behaviour Contracts and Community Protection Warnings where applicable, and work closely with partner agencies.
2. Drug Dealing
The team will conduct high-visibility and plain-clothes patrols in the area.
They will stop and search those suspected of drug dealing, gather and develop intelligence, and act on information provided by the local community.
We will execute warrants for positive outcomes and reassure the community.
We aim to disrupt drug activity with targeted hotspot patrols in the area.
3. Nuisance Off-Road Bikes / E-Scooters
Reports of nuisance off-road bikes in the area have increased.
High-visibility patrols are taking place in hotspot locations such as Alvaston Park, Field Lane Park, and the canal path.
The Off-Road Bike Team has been utilised on several occasions to assist in combating this issue.
We will tackle this issue by working with the community and partner agencies to identify offenders.
Positive action will be taken under Section 59 powers (Police Reform Act) and powers under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act for riding without insurance.
4. Vulnerability – Cuckooing
We have continued to work closely with the local authority and our partners from local housing associations.
This allows us to share information and identify those at risk of having their properties taken over by drug dealers.
We work together with our partners to ensure we visit our most vulnerable victims regularly—sometimes daily—offering reassurance and support.
We have also taken robust action against offenders, making arrests at the first opportunity and enforcing strict bail conditions, offering an extra layer of support to victims in these circumstances.
If you suspect any properties in the local area are being taken over by suspicious individuals, it’s important that you make us aware.
