Current Priorities

Issue

1. Riding unlicensed powered vehicles across the Ilkeston area.
2.Knife crime - Knife crime reduction.
3.Anti-social Behaviour – Youth related occurring in public spaces.

Action

1.We will analyse police data to identify local hot spot areas and attend related incidents. Review incident reports using police data to identify any individuals involved and take robust action. Increased high visibility and plain clothes patrols to be conducted by local SNT officers in hot-spot areas to detect and disrupt criminal activity. The use of specialist units such as Drones and Off-road motorbikes to allow Officers to take positive action. This will include the seizing of motorbikes using powers under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and warning of riders using Section 59 of the Police reform Act 2002. Engagement with key stakeholders such as local businesses and landowners, provide reassurance and offer crime prevention advice.
2.SNT officers will attend and assist in the investigation of all reports of knife crimes. Increased high visibility and plain clothes patrols to be conducted in hot-spot areas to detect and disrupt criminal activity. Deliver crime prevention advice, including education establishment inputs, to ensure the younger generation are aware of the risks of possession/carrying knives.
3.We will analyse police data to identify local hot spots for youth related ASB related incidents. With this information we will seek identities of individuals involved to tackle these issues and ensure regular high visibility patrols in designated areas are carried out to provide reassurance. Joint work with our youth engagement team to also be carried out so involved individuals can be held accountable for their actions and attend consequence sessions as a result of their behaviour.
