Intelligence received from members of the public, can often result in positive action from the police. We require regular reliable information to help identify the types of drugs and a pattern of use to aid our positive action.

Update: 23 March 2025 - Partial Closure Order

In the later part of last year 2024 we received calls and invaluable information  from residents within a small residential area in North Prospect, which involved drug dealing, including multiple visitors to a particular property.

The residents, police, Plymouth community homes and Plymouth city council collaborated the information received, which was effecting the day to days lives of the residents and we were granted a partial closure on the property, from the Magistrates Courts.

Update: 28 November 2024 - Boarder Force drug interception

Partner agency Boarder Force informed the police about a parcel they had intercepted, police conducted a door step visit, made an arrest and the property was searched by West neighbourhood team.

Update: 28 November 2024 - Cannabis Farm Hyde Park

Intelligence received  from a partner agency, lead to police utilizing police resources to positively identifying  a cannabis farm, where an arrest was made, by the West neighbourhood policing team.

Update: 28 November 2024 - Cannabis

Officer were dealing with  an unrelated incident when cannabis could be smelt at a home address in Peverell. An arrest was made and a search of the home address was conducted. Cannabis was located by the West neighbourhood team

Information received from members of the public, made us aware of a cannabis grow in Peverell, Plymouth.  Police completed some reconnaissance, by using police resources, and were able to positively take action which sought the removal of the grow.

Youth ASB - North Prospect

During the first part of the year 2024 youths have been causing antisocial behaviour (ASB) towards local residents, criminal damage to properties owned by Plymouth Community Homes (PCH) and abusive towards residents (public order).

Update: 20 April 2025 - Mini Police

The local neighbourhood team and year 4 students from Ford Primary School recently

featured on the news (ITV) for their involvement in Mini Police. The students visited a

local park to take part in a litter pick as part of their social action session to give back

and help communities.

Mini Police is a vital programme. It runs for six-weeks and aims to inspire and educate

8 - 10-year-olds in primary schools across the city. Students learn about a range of

important topics, including crime prevention, internet safety, ASB and road safety. We

know early engagement is an effective way to prevent young people from becoming a

victim of crime or getting involved in criminality themselves. Over 44 schools and over

1,000 children have received the Mini Police programme - there are 66 primary schools

in Plymouth!

Update: 20 September 2024 - Good news!

Its now September 2024 and the amount of reports made to the police about ASB from youths in North Prospect has reduced.

Thanks you to all those members of the community  who contacted the police to report. We acted upon those reports by various methods.

 

Update: 13 July 2024 - ASB 1 letters

Another 3 youths have been identified for causing ASB within a block of apartments in North Prospect. They have been issued with an ASB1 letter from Police and Plymouth City Council.

Update: 13 July 2024 - Electronic entry to blocks of apartments

Police have been working together to ask residents within the blocks of flats to not allow unknown persons/youths into the blocks. PCH have written letters to residents asking this, as we've had reports of youths gaining entry to blocks of apartment's in North Prospect, and causing anti social behaviour. We again ask residents not to allow unexpected visitor in to the blocks. Thank you

Update: 07 May 2024 - Door knocks to local residents

Due to reports of ASB in North Prospect the local policing team have conducted multiple door knocks, giving time to those who would like to share some information.

Gaining CCTV, in areas where offences have taken place to gain the identity of those committing criminal offences.

Working with other agencies such as Plymouth Community Homes(PCH)and (Plymouth City Council Anti social behaviour) PCC ASB team, to conduct joint visits to families and issuing ASB1 letters, which stay with the individual for 3 months.

Road Safety

The local policing team received a large response to a speed watch the PCSO's conducted and posted on Facebook. Thus creating a need for an initiative of Road Safety.

There are five main causes of serious injuries and deaths on the region’s roads – known as the ‘fatal five’:

  • Excess or inappropriate speed
  • Not wearing a seatbelt
  • Driving using your mobile phone
  • Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Careless or inconsiderate driving

Update: 20 April 2025 - Traffic offences caught in the act

A female in the Pennycross area of Plymouth has been jailed for 12 weeks for numerous driving offences, and banned from driving for 28 months.

 The local policing team worked in collaboration with the roads policing team.

Update: 23 March 2025 - Pennycross School speed Watch

Local neighbourhood team and 6 pupils from Pennycross Primary School all wearing high vis jackets, took part in a speed watch operation, where the children took in turn using the speed gun along on Ham Drive.

Update: 07 September 2024 - Traffic Day of Action

 Another positive Road Safety Op was carried out at HOME PARK, PLYMOUTH on the 15th August 2024 where the chief constable was also in attendance. The Devon and Cornwall Traffic Officers worked alongside the Commercial vehicle unit and the DVSA ( Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) worked 

Results  are as follows.

2 overweight

2 Immediate prohibitions for load security

2 Immediate prohibitions for construction and use

12 advisory notes served for construction and use  

2 PG9 and PG10 prohibition notices

3 No insurance

1 No MOT

2 Insecure loads

1 x Arrested for drug drive

Update: 14 August 2024 - Traffic Op

Devon and Cornwall Traffic officers, Driver & vehicle Standards Agency, Commercial vehicle unit, Police Cadets and Devonport and West neighbourhood team worked together in Plymouth and robustly dealt with; ???????????????

Update: 20 June 2024 - Further Speed gun monitoring

Further speed gun monitoring has taken place within Fleet street, Victoria Road and Ford Park Road and Central Park Avenue.

Update: 07 May 2024 - Traffic Day of Action Speed Watch

01/05/24 - Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) conducted community speed watch checks and were pleased to report the vast majority of drivers were within the speed limit, driving at an appropriate speed for the conditions. Several drivers were given warnings regarding their speed which exceeded the roads’ limits.

Road monitored were; Saltash Road, Molesworth Road, Beacon Park Road, Honicknowle Road, Kings Road ad Pemros Road.

 

Update: 07 May 2024 - Traffic Day of Action

1/05/24 - During the road safety operation, fourteen drivers were pulled over for motoring offences including driving whilst on their mobile phone, driving without insurance and MOT, and driving without a seatbelt. All drivers have been reported and suitable penalties will be issued, including speed awareness courses, points on licenses and fines. Two unmarked police cars were also deployed for the operation and arrested two people for suspected drug driving. Both individuals are currently under investigation.

The DVSA inspected multiple vehicles and dealt with a number of issues including insecure loads, trucks that were overloaded with contents and tyres that were unsafe. In total, the DVSA team temporarily prohibited 23 vehicles from re-joining the carriageway until the dangerous defects were resolved.

Update: 07 May 2024 - Speed Watch

On the 2nd April and numerous times after, PCSO's have conducted a high visual Speed watches on the following streets;

Molesworth Road, St Levans Road, St Pancras Avenue, North Prospect Road, Ferndale Road, Wolseley Road and  Fleetmoor Road.

This is to monitor the speed of the drivers. All drivers were driving responsibly.
