We focus on preventing crime, tackling local issues, and building strong relationships with residents. Our duties often include patrolling the area, supporting vulnerable individuals, working with schools and local groups, and responding to concerns raised by the community. We do this by being visible and approachable.

Issue
Youth Nuisance and anti-social use of offroad bikes
Action
The team plan to :
- Increased patrols in the hotspot areas to engage with any youths that are causing problems
- Engage with the community to gather intelligence
- Use of our section 59 powers and feeding in intelligence to Op Endurance to target our bike sections patrols accordingly
- Working with partner agencies such as Durham County Council, and housing providers
- Work alongside Durham County Councils ASB Team targeting offenders of ASB
Issue
Shoplifting: This isn’t a victimless crime – it impacts local businesses, raises prices for honest customers and can contribute to wider issues of antisocial behaviour. Being visible helps us deter crime and support shop owners directly.
Action
Officers have been working hard to locate and arrest suspects in the area.
A number of shoplifters have been arrested and charged for shoplifting offences in the area.
We are working hard to liase with local shops to raise awareness of shopwatch.
We are applying, where we can, Criminal Behaviour Orders on conviction, to keep known shoplifters out of our local stores.
We are working hard to improve public confidence when dealing with this type of crime
