Speeding continues to be a concern in South Hetton and Haswell with residents raising the issue at recent Community Meetings.

In response, Community Speedwatch has been deployed in both areas.
HASWELL - During a 30 minute monitoring period, 49 vehicles were recorded passing the sight with 1 vehicle found to be exceeding the speed limit.
SOUTH HETTON - Over a similar 30 minute period, 66 vehicles passed with 1 vehicle recorded speeding.
Enforcement Cameras have been present and recorded the following results - A182 Gregson Terrace, South Hetton
During the visit to the site I would advise that 9 drivers triggered the safety camera:
0 drivers fell within our Process Level (Court action)
2 drivers fell within our Conditional offer level (fine and points)
7 drivers fell within our Speed Awareness Course level

B1283 Durham Road, Haswell Plough
During the visit to the site I would advise that 15 drivers triggered the safety camera:
1 driver fell within our Process Level (Court action)
2 drivers fell within our Conditional offer level (fine and points)
12 drivers fell within our Speed Awareness Course level

While the majority of drivers were within the speed limit, these checks are part of ongoing efforts to promote safer driving and address community concerns. Further monitoring and engagement will continue as needed.

Anti-Social Behaviour in the Regent Court area of South Hetton.

Concerns regarding anti-social behaviour in the area of Regent Court, South Hetton, were raised by a local resident during a recent community drop-in session. Issues reported include groups of youths shouting, swearing, littering and banging on doors causing distress to residents.

In response we have increased patrols in the area to monitor and deter this behavior. Made local youths aware of the impact their actions are having on the community. Also we have contacted the local Council Neighbourhood Wardens to request additional patrols and raise awareness of the ongoing concerns.

We will continue to work with partners and the community to reduce anti-social behavior and improve quality of life for residents.
