Current Priorities
Issue
Youths causing multiple issues within the Town Centre
Action
Targeted patrols.
Targeting main individuals and utilising Youth Justice scheme and bail conditions to curb behaviour.
Issue
Anti-social use of vehicles (predominantly unregistered off-road bikes) is a major concern for the community. Frequently uninsured and unroadworthy, the illegal use of such vehicles creates a risk of harm to the public and to the rider.
Action
Supported by Housing Agencies and Landlords, Community Protection Warning Notices are in the process of being issued to addresses where unregistered off-road motorbikes are known to be operated from.
Issue
Shoplifting is one of the highest crimes recorded within Stanley
Action
-Carry out high visibility patrols within the Town Centre but also the smaller shops around the local area.
- We also have a zero tolerance approach with most suspects of this crime
- We also work with various partners to assist in the tackle against shoplifters such as our Colleagues from Durham County Council in relation to improving CCTV, banning suspects from shops and the Town Centre and assisting in patrols and intelligence gathering
