Current Priorities
Issue
Local residents have expressed concerns about violent crime, particularly in town centres as well as violence against women and girls.
Action
"Our officers continue to maintain a visible presence in areas where violent crime has been reported. This proactive approach helps deter behaviour that could escalate into violence and ensures a swift response when incidents do occur.
Working alongside our Community Safety Partnerships, officers who specialise in engaging with children and young people have been visiting schools to speak with students about healthy relationships. These sessions aim to prevent the development of violent or abusive behaviours and promote a culture of respect and safety from an early age."
Issue
Residents remain concerned about anti-social behaviour and its links to violence and drug dealing.
Action
Our officers continue to maintain a visible presence in areas where anti-social behaviour has been reported. Working in partnership with the Tri-Service Officer, the Community Safety Partnership, and organisations such as Crucial Crew, we are actively engaging with the community to prevent anti-social behaviour. This includes educating young people about the impact anti-social actions can have on others and promoting positive choices.
Our officers continue to act on information provided by local residents about suspected drug dealing. The intelligence we receive helps us build a clearer picture of what’s happening in our neighbourhoods, enabling us to take targeted action and ensure those responsible are held accountable for their actions.
Issue
Local residents have raised concerns about speeding, anti-social behaviour on the roads, and the number of serious or fatal collisions occurring in the district.
Action
In response, we have deployed speed checks in areas where residents have raised concerns. While these checks do identify speeding drivers, they also serve as a visible reminder, encouraging all road users to reflect on and adjust their behaviour- ultimately helping to make our roads safer for everyone.
