Get to know officers who work in your community. Officers from your community policing team will be on hand to listen to your concerns about crime or antisocial behaviour, where you live or work. We can discuss solutions to the problems you raise, and where needed, work with our local partners to resolve ongoing issues. And if it's something we already know about, we can talk about what we’re doing to address it. It’s important that you talk to us about the things that are causing you concern in your community. If we have a better understanding of what’s happening, we can work to fix it.
So come and talk to us and get to know those who are looking after your community.

Current Priorities

Issue

Local people have told us they’re worried about violent crime in town centres and holiday parks. This includes concerns about domestic abuse and violence against women and girls.

Action

Our officers have been, and will continue to be, on patrol in areas where local people have raised concerns about violent crime. We also use tools like live facial recognition to help identify suspects and make sure they are held responsible for their actions.

We know that warmer weather brings more people to our towns and holiday parks. This often includes more drinking, which can lead to an increase in violent behaviour. To help keep everyone safe, we’ve launched a special summer and holiday policing plan. This includes more visible patrols in places where problems are more likely to happen.

We’re also working closely with partners like Tendring District Council. Together, we’ve put Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) in place in areas where anti-social behaviour, such as street drinking, is a problem. A PSPO is a legal order that helps us deal with behaviour that affects the quality of life in public spaces. Our regular patrols help us spot and deal with any breaches quickly, so these areas stay safe and welcoming for everyone.

Issue

Residents remain concerned about burglaries affecting both homes and businesses across Tendring.

Action

Our Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to support detectives who specialise in investigating burglary. We’re also working closely with local residents and businesses to help prevent these crimes. This includes offering practical safety advice and promoting visible deterrents such as CCTV and regular police patrols.

By building strong relationships within the community, we encourage people to report anything suspicious. This vital information helps us identify patterns and respond quickly to emerging threats.

Issue

Local people and businesses have told us they are worried about anti-social behaviour in Clacton town centre and along the seafront.

Action

Our Neighbourhood Policing Team works closely with the wider Community Safety Team, including the District Council, to deal with anti-social behaviour. The team uses a range of powers to tackle ongoing problems, including:

Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) – legal orders that help stop behaviour that affects the quality of life in public spaces, such as street drinking or loud noise.

Community Protection Warnings (CPWs) – written warnings given to individuals whose behaviour is having a negative impact on the local community. These explain what the problem is and what needs to change.

Community Protection Notices (CPNs) – formal notices that can be issued if someone ignores a CPW. A CPN can require them to stop certain behaviour or take specific actions. If they don’t follow the notice, they could face a fine or further legal action.

We also use hotspot policing, which means putting more officers in areas where problems are more likely to happen, especially at busy times. This helps prevent anti-social behaviour and gives reassurance to the community.

Issue

Local residents have told us they are concerned about vehicle crime due to the impact it can have - not just financially, but emotionally too. Having a vehicle stolen or damaged can disrupt daily life, affect work and family commitments, and leave people feeling vulnerable.

Action

We understand these concerns and are committed to tackling vehicle crime through targeted patrols, crime prevention advice, and working closely with the community to identify and respond to emerging trends.
