Current Priorities
Issue
Residents have told us they’re worried about the rise in vehicle thefts, including cases where homes are broken into to steal car keys.
Action
We’ve been investigating a suspected offender who has now been charged with over 40 offences.
We also have a dedicated team working to tackle vehicle theft and commercial burglary in Basildon. This work is being led by our Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and we’re continuing to identify and take action against those involved.
Issue
Local people have told us they’re concerned about the rise in commercial burglary.
A commercial burglary is when someone illegally enters a business premises - such as a shop, office, warehouse, or other commercial building - as a trespasser, with the intent to steal property, cause damage, or inflict harm.
Action
We’ve been working with teams across Basildon and Castle Point & Rochford to investigate a group of suspects believed to be linked to a series of commercial burglaries.
Three people have now been charged with 14 offences and have been remanded in custody while the case progresses through the courts.
Our officers will continue to monitor for any new trends in commercial burglary and take action where needed.
Issue
Residents have told us that off-road vehicles, like motorcycles and quad bikes, are causing a nuisance in the community. They are disruptive and can make people feel unsafe.
Action
Neighbourhood Policing Team officers will working with the Drone Team and Roads Policing Unit to use specialist skills at key times and locations where we are told us this is happening. This will help us gather information, identify those responsible, and take enforcement action.
If you see off-road vehicles being used illegally or dangerously, please report it. Your information helps us keep the community safe.
