We understand that residents are concerned about speeding, street racing, and anti-social behaviour, particularly on Roscommon Way.

To help tackle this, Castle Point Borough Council introduced a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) in 2022, which is in place until September 2025. This order gives police and council officers extra powers to deal with nuisance behaviour in the area, including issuing fines for breaches.

Our officers continue to support enforcement of the PSPO through regular patrols and targeted action. We are also working with the council to explore extending the PSPO beyond 2025 to ensure long-term safety and reassurance for the community.

Local people have told us they are concerned about anti-social behaviour, particularly in Venables Court and Canvey Town Centre.

In response, our officers are working closely with local businesses to review CCTV footage and identify those responsible for repeated incidents. We’re also supporting shops in issuing banning orders to individuals causing the most disruption.

To help prevent further issues, we’ve increased patrols during key times. We’re also planning future deployments of Live Facial Recognition technology to help identify repeat offenders and disrupt ongoing activity.

Local people have told us they are worried about drug dealing in their neighbourhoods.

We have specialist teams dedicated to investigating and dismantling those involved in drug supply within our neighbourhoods.

Using intelligence-led policing, we carry out proactive patrols to gather information, deter violent offenders, and prevent serious crime. This approach helps us target those who pose the greatest risk to our communities.

But tackling drug-related crime isn’t just about enforcement. We work closely with local organisations to protect vulnerable people, including those exploited by County Line gangs.

We partner with the Essex Violence and Vulnerability Unit (VVU)—a group of public services and local organisations with a shared goal: to protect young and vulnerable people and prevent their involvement in violent crime.

Our safeguarding officers play a key role in identifying individuals who are being exploited or controlled by criminal networks, ensuring they get the support they need.
