Action

· CREATING SAFE SPACES IN PARTIUCLAR FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS

Operation Ash provides high visibility patrols in areas with over 300hrs conducted in April. Local Authority have reviewed feedback from the Safer Spaces Survey. Gloucester Park has been highlighted as an area where people don’t feel safe. Neighbourhood officers will continue to patrol as part of Op Ash and Night Angels (predominately support women and girls) will also patrol when they are out at weekends. Police/Local Authority are making space for an office so personnel can work and be visible/point of contact should the public wish to raise any concerns.

Op Comet took place in April. This is a proactive policing operation by Police officers (both high visibility/plain clothes) paying particular attention to tackling ASB in our night time economy, Drugs, Violence against women and girls & knife crime working in partnership with licenced premises, night safe officers, night angels, city safe etc; the outcome of this operation was;

21 People searched.
3 Community Resolutions for possession of cannabis.
2 Arrested (Drunk in charge, Drug drive and Disqual Driving)
Cannabis, Cocaine and Numerous NOS Canisters seized.
1 vehicle seized for no insurance.
5 Vehicles searched.
1 person interviewed and reported for no insurance.
Foot patrols were carried and officers who engaged with the public in the city centre.

I am also pleased to report Gloucester City retained its purple flag status following a full inspection on the 28th March. The prestigious international award given to night-time destinations around the world, is awarded to places that provide a vibrant, diverse mix of dining, entertainment and culture, while providing a safe and welcoming night out.
Purple flag is like blue flags for beaches and green for parks.

· TACKLING ANTI SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR (ASB)

Operation Ash remains throughout the City with hot spot locations being patrolled daily thanks to home office funding specifically to tackle ASB. Multi Agency Problem Solving meetings occur weekly where repeat perpetrators are discussed and signposted accordingly. There have been over 300hrs worth of patrols conducted in hot spot areas in the month of April. SOLACE have 28 live injunctions for persons persistent on causing ASB in the city.

PD (Police Dog) Ollie and PC Shields remains committed to providing high visibility patrols throughout Gloucester combatting ASB.

Drug offences (other than cannabis) – recorded offences increased by 10.9%, positive outcomes up by 4.29%
Drug offences (Cannabis) recorded offences increased 22.1% with positive outcomes up by 30.4%

This demonstrates our officers are utilising search powers and taking action in particular those using cannabis which is often reported to us due to its distinctive smell has a subsequent effect on people trying to go about their daily business.

Please see above reference Op Comet.

· RETAIL CRIME

Over the last 12 months we have seen a 2.9% increase in Shoplifting offences being reported here in Gloucester (The national average over 20%)

Our solved rate for shoplifting offences in Gloucester (May 24 to May 25) is 22% (Our outcome rate has improved by 22.7% compared to the previous year)

Over the last 12 months Business Burglary offences have decreased by 10.1%. The positive outcome rate has increased by 157.1%

Partners including Police, CPOs, BID, City Safe, SOLACE (to name a few) continually to work in partnership to tackle shoplifting offences/business crime and this is evidenced by the figures provided above.
