Tackling Drug Issues on the West Marsh

Action

We know how much of an impact drug-related activity can have on our communities, especially around homes and local businesses in the West Marsh area.

Your neighbourhood policing team is working hard behind the scenes, building valuable information to help us take action where it’s needed most. This ongoing work helps us apply for warrants and respond effectively.

In the past two months, we’ve carried out three warrants in the area, all leading to positive results. We’re committed to making the West Marsh a safer, more comfortable place to live and work.

Issue

Anti-social begging outside of retail stores.

Action

The team have noted a rise in begging outside of retail premises across the area and are working hard with our partners to support those in need whilst taking positive action where offences are committed.

The team have regular contact with the retail stores in the area and have issued a number of community protection warnings and notices to deter aggressive begging with persistent offenders being reported to court.

Our plans going forward are to continue to work alongside the Homeless Team, Navigo, With You & Harbour Place to provide outreach services whilst maintaining a high visibility presence to deter anti-social behaviour.
