Current Priorities

Issue

As we approach Spring, members of our policing teams from both Wards will continue to be out and about policing our roads to promote safe behaviour and enforcement of traffic laws.

Action

We have completed speed enforcement within Walkington, Woodmansey and North Newbald over the last few weeks and the The intended outcomes are to:

Education & awareness campaigns to reduce the number of casualties on our roads.

Create a culture of road safety where individuals understand and practices safe behaviours.

Community speed watch is to be introduced at all Parish council meetings for those that are experiencing speeding issues, this in turn will allow residents to become police trained volunteers monitoring vehicle speeds in their community.

Issue

Throughout April and May more bike marking will be conducted

Action

Leconfield – Miles Road, 10th April 4-6pm
Tickton – Village Hall, 11th April 4-6pm
Leven – Hare & Hound, 14th April 4-6pm
Walkington – Primary School, 15th April 4-6pm
Cherry Burton – Post office, 16th April 4-6pm
Bishop Burton – Altisdore car park 6th May 4-6pm
Middleton – Robin hood Inn 7th May 4-6pm

Issue

Ongoing issues with parents parking on Double yellow lines, single yellow lines and school zig zags. This is a danger to pupils and causes congestion. Residents are also having their drives blocked. Over the coming weeks and months PC Scotter will compile and advice letter showing all forms of yellow markings in relation to NO STOPPING. This letter can then be taken to all schools suffering parking issues, drive blocking. The Head Teacher would then be able to send this to all parents as either part of their usual newsletter or as an individual update from the Police.

Action

Most schools now have a policy in place where there is a member of staff on the entrance at entering and leaving times. It will be requested that staff obtain the registrations of vehicles committing the offences of NO STOPPING on the specific lines.

School Staff will then email NPT staff with the vehicle registration and Police officers will PNC the vehicles to obtain the registered keeper’s address.
