Issue

In recent months Kingswood academy have raised concerns to me around road safety particularly at leaving time, this is around people parking on double yellow lines and in bus stops and causes obstruction to the one way road.
On the 12th or February a meeting was held with PC Tierney, Emma Humphries- Crow (area coordinator), Adele HINCH (ASB) and Rebecca Rose (Road Safety partner) and Simon HARRISS (Deputy Head Kingswood Parks) the concerns were discussed and ideas explored.

Action

Kingswood councillors have paid from the ward budget (2024) for a zebra crossing which is in the process of plans being drawn up.
PC Tierney and Emma held a whole school assembly at school on 2nd April 2025,. where the issue of road safety was discussed, children were encouraged to 'remind' their parents/ carers where its safe to park and the reasons why and ways that we can get to school and keep everyone safe was discussed.
A poster competition was set for the easter break and once this is judged 4 winners will be decided. these posters will then be blown up and put onto 4 A boards, this will then be for the school to display them along the double yellow lines and bus stop each day. the funding for this is from 2025 ward budget.
further interaction from Rebecca rose are ongoing an then next meeting is scheduled for 6th May.
