Current Priorities
Issue
Burglaries around student accommodation.
Action
Residents are reminded to be vigilant, take all necessary precautions to secure their property and report any suspicious activity either to the Police or the security staff from Hull University.
Staff from the Northern Neighbourhood Policing Team will be carrying out both plain clothes and uniformed patrols in the area to deal with any offenders and protect local residents.
Issue
Smart Water Roll out - Cranbrook Avenue
Action
Following the successful roll out of Smart Water (a liquid DNA identifier for valuable items) on the Orchard Park Ward, this will now be extended to the University ward area starting with Cranbrook Avenue.
Local officers will soon be visiting residents and handing out free Smartwater and explaining the benefits of the scheme.
This is still ongoing as there are still some locations and streets to complete. If you know your street has been completed but you did not receive any Smartwater for whatever reason and would like some, then please contact the North Hull Neighbourhood team.
Issue
Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO)
Action
A Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) is a tool introduced in 2014 under the Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Police Act 2014.
Humberside Police and Hull City Council will use the powers of the PSPO to tackle antisocial behaviour in public areas.
The purpose of a PSPO is to improve the quality of life in our communities. It restricts or prohibits certain activities in public areas which could have a negative impact on the community.
Within a PSPO area individuals are prohibited from:
Making any verbal, non-verbal or written request for money, donations, or goods so as to cause or likely cause antisocial behavior.
Loiter, sit or lay on the floor, including doorways or around cash machines, in a manner causing or likely to cause antisocial behavior.
Consume alcohol in any public place anywhere within the PSPO area, or be in possession of any open vessel containing or purporting to contain alcohol.
The University, Orchard Park and the Beverley Newland Wards are all subject to the conditions of the PSPO. Humberside Police and Hull City Council will work together to enforce the PSPO and tackle any issues of anti social behaviour and continue to make every effort to improve the quality of life for the residents in our communities.
