Current Priorities
Issue
Drug taking.
Action
Police will work in partnership with the County Lines team to gather and submit intelligence aimed at targeting drug suppliers and users. The focus will be on prosecuting those who break the law, while also offering support to vulnerable individuals through relevant initiatives. Officers will also carry out 'safe and well' home visits for individuals who may be at risk of being cuckooed — a term used to describe when criminals take over the home of a vulnerable person to use it for drug dealing or other illegal activity, often through coercion or exploitation.
Issue
E-scooters and/or nuisance motorcycles.
Action
Beat officers will work alongside the Neighbourhood Task Force and problem-solving police community support officers to address this issue, using operational toolkits tailored to the specific challenges. These types of operations have previously proven effective and have been positively received by the community. Progress and outcomes will be shared through My Community Voice.
Issue
Fly tipping and/or antisocial behaviour.
Action
Beat officers and Neighbourhood Task Force staff will patrol areas where fly-tipping has been reported and will work in partnership with the Council’s Waste Crime Team to carry out joint operations. They will also check waste carrier licences and inspect vehicles suspected of transporting scrap to ensure all documentation is valid and compliant.
