Current Priorities

Issue

Antisocial behaviour - General.

Action

The local beat officer is actively involved in gathering intelligence and evidence, alongside conducting data analysis to identify individuals responsible for antisocial behaviour (ASB) and enable targeted interventions. This work is being carried out in close collaboration with the specialist Kent Police ASB Officer, the Local Authority’s Community Safety Partnership (CSP) ASB Officer, housing teams, the Violence Reduction Unit (VRU), and Youth Justice services. This multi-agency approach ensures a coordinated response to ASB, focusing on problem-solving and delivering effective, long-term outcomes for the community.

Issue

Drug dealing.

Action

An organised crime group involved in drug supply has been identified, with key individuals arrested, charged, and currently awaiting trial. Several large-scale cannabis cultivation sites have also been located and targeted through police search warrants, resulting in disruption, dismantling of operations, and arrests.

Local street-level dealers have been identified, prioritised as key nominals, and are subject to ongoing intelligence gathering, stop-and-search activity, arrests, and control measures. These include bail conditions, safeguarding interventions involving social services, and in some cases, removal from the district.

A targeted drug operation is planned focusing on the night-time economy within the ward. This will involve coordinated efforts between the police, Local Authority, and Licensing teams.

Issue

Drug taking.

Action

A targeted drug operation is planned focusing on the ward’s night-time economy. This operation will involve coordinated efforts between the police, Local Authority, and Licensing teams.

With consent, referrals are made to partner agencies offering drug, alcohol, health, housing, and social support services for individuals seeking help with substance misuse. The Child-Centred Policing Team, alongside partner agencies, has also delivered educational sessions in local schools to raise awareness about the dangers of drug use and to promote available support services.

Key locations are regularly patrolled to deter the open and visible use of drugs in public spaces. Local intelligence is used to guide the use of stop-and-search powers, targeting individuals known to be involved in drug use and supply within the area.
