Current Priorities

Issue

Drug taking.

Action

Key locations associated with drug-related antisocial behaviour (ASB) in St Radigunds have been identified, with particular focus on a main block of flats that has generated numerous calls to police. The property developer responsible for this location has been actively engaging in preventative measures aimed at reducing its appeal to local youths. These efforts are ongoing and are expected to require reinforcement, particularly over the summer holiday period when such activity can increase. Continued partnership working and monitoring will support the effectiveness of these interventions.

Issue

E-Scooters and/or nuisance motorcycles.

Action

The local beat officer is actively gathering information and analysing data to identify individuals involved in ongoing issues, enabling targeted action to be taken. A district-wide operation focused on e-scooters is currently being planned. This initiative will include providing point-of-sale information, launching an e-messaging campaign, and delivering a combination of education, intervention, and enforcement around the use of e-scooters and nuisance motorcycles.

Nuisance motorcycles are primarily off-road bikes without registration plates, being used illegally on footpaths and open land. Work is ongoing to identify the vehicles and riders involved, so that appropriate interventions can be made.

Issue

Antisocial behaviour - General.

Action

Antisocial behaviour (ASB) is a broad term that can cover a wide range of issues. However, police data and insights from both police and partner agencies suggest that the most prevalent and harmful type of ASB in this densely populated, urban area is directly or indirectly linked to drugs and drug use.

The beat officer will continue to engage with the local community and community leaders to better understand their perceptions of the general ASB problem. This will help ensure that targeted and effective action can be taken in partnership with other agencies to reduce or mitigate these issues.
