Current Priorities

Issue

Antisocial behaviour - General.

Action

The local beat officer is actively engaged in gathering intelligence and evidence, along with conducting data analysis to identify individuals involved in antisocial behaviour (ASB) for targeted interventions. This work is being carried out in close partnership with the specialist Kent Police ASB Officer, the Local Authority’s Community Safety Partnership (CSP) ASB Officer, housing providers, the Violence Reduction Unit (VRU), and Youth Justice services. This collaborative, multi-agency approach ensures a coordinated and effective response to ASB, focused on problem-solving and delivering sustainable, positive outcomes for the community.

Issue

Drug dealing.

Action

An organised crime group involved in drug supply has been identified, with key individuals arrested, charged, and currently awaiting trial. Several large-scale cannabis cultivation sites have been discovered and targeted through police search warrants, resulting in disruption, dismantling of operations, and arrests—including individuals linked to Albanian organised crime.

Local street-level dealers have also been identified and prioritised as key nominals. These individuals are subject to ongoing intelligence gathering, stop-and-search interventions, arrests, and control measures. These include bail conditions, safeguarding referrals to social services, and in some cases, relocation outside the district.

A targeted drug operation is scheduled focusing on the ward’s night-time economy. This operation will involve coordinated efforts between the police, Local Authority, and Licensing teams.

Issue

Alcohol.

Action

The local beat officer, in collaboration with Kent Police and Local Authority Licensing Teams, has successfully delivered the Dover Community Alcohol Partnership initiative. This programme focuses on educating and informing retailers about their legal responsibilities in preventing underage alcohol sales. Retailers are also being supported with guidance on how to safely address and report incidents of alcohol theft.

In partnership with the Vulnerability and Behavioural Crime Team (VBCT), efforts are being made to capture evidence and identify repeat offenders involved in alcohol-related thefts, leading to arrests where appropriate. The Community Crime Prevention Team (CCPT) has also promoted the use of alcohol monitoring tags (alco-tags) for key youth offenders to help reduce underage drinking.

This work is further supported through ongoing collaboration with the Violence Reduction Unit (VRU), health and alcohol support services, Youth Justice, and education partners, ensuring a comprehensive and multi-agency approach to tackling underage drinking and its associated harms.
