Current Priorities
Issue
Antisocial behaviour - General.
Action
Regular patrols are being carried out across the general area to maintain a visible presence and deter antisocial behaviour (ASB). Officers are also taking part in community events to engage with residents, explain the impact of ASB, and highlight the importance of accurate and timely reporting. These interactions help build understanding around what information the police need to take effective action and encourage stronger community-police collaboration in tackling ASB.
Issue
E-Scooters and/or nuisance motorcycles.
Action
Enforcement efforts are ongoing to address the illegal use of e-scooters and nuisance motorcycles. This includes enforcing laws that prohibit the use of private e-scooters on public roads, with action taken where offences are identified. Vehicle seizure operations are also being carried out to remove uninsured or unlicensed vehicles from the roads. Intelligence-led patrols are targeting known nuisance riders to disrupt their activity and deter further offences. In parallel, youth education initiatives are being delivered in collaboration with schools and parents to raise awareness among young riders about the legal and safety implications of their actions. Public awareness campaigns are also being promoted through social media and local channels to encourage the safe and lawful use of e-scooters and motorcycles within the community.
Issue
Road safety issues.
Action
Enforcement around road safety issues includes a strong focus on addressing the illegal use of e-scooters, particularly private scooters being used on public roads, which is not permitted under current legislation. Vehicle seizure operations are also being carried out to remove uninsured or unlicensed vehicles from circulation. Intelligence-led patrols are targeting known nuisance riders to disrupt dangerous behaviour and improve safety. In addition, youth education initiatives are being delivered in partnership with schools and parents to inform young riders about the legal and safety responsibilities associated with road use. These efforts are supported by public awareness campaigns, shared through social media and local channels, to promote the safe and lawful use of vehicles and improve overall road safety in the community.
