Current Priorities
Issue
Violent crime.
Action
Patrols by the Beat Team and Neighbourhood Task Force have been increased, particularly around the night-time economy. There is a focus on the early identification and arrest of offenders, including the enforcement of bail conditions to protect the community from further harm. Community safety initiatives centred on Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) have been delivered at several locations, and staff at licensed premises have received training to support this work.
Issue
Antisocial behaviour.
Action
Beat officers and the Neighbourhood Task Force are conducting regular patrols, using antisocial behaviour legislation where appropriate to address local concerns and maintain community safety.
Issue
Drugs.
Action
Both plain clothes and uniformed officers have been deployed, using powers under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act (MDA) and other relevant legislation. This includes the execution of MDA warrants and use of Section 18 powers where applicable. Officers are working in partnership with housing providers to target specific addresses known for drug dealing. Intelligence is being developed to accurately identify and target repeat offenders, with priority individuals being raised as nominal targets. In addition, drug operations have been carried out on multiple occasions at licensed premises to address drug use in those settings.
