Retail Crime

The team will be working with retailers within our beat to prevent shop lifting, provide support and high visibility presence at retail establishments.

April Update;
The team has actively engaged with businesses within the beat, providing advice and reassurance to staff, security personnel, and the public. Robust measures have been implemented against repeat offenders, and the team will continue to share updates on these engagements online. We encourage you to meet the team and discuss any concerns you may have.

May update;
The team continues to hold several Beat Surgeries and ‘Meet the Team’ events at various retail venues across the beat. Details of upcoming events can be found on our Meetings and Events page.
Officers have made a number of significant arrests and are currently pursuing Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs) against repeat offenders.

Drug Related Crime

The team will be tackling drug related issues on the team and ensuring robust action is taking against those dealing and supply drugs on the beat and appropriate safeguarding is provided for those who are victim to drug offences or
suffering from addiction.

April Update;
The team has executed warrants based on intelligence related to drug supply within the beat. Several arrests have been made, with strict bail conditions imposed to ensure public safety. Additionally, collaborative efforts with partner agencies have been undertaken to provide appropriate support and safeguarding for identified vulnerable individuals.

May Update
Investigations from the previous month’s warrants are ongoing and are being regularly reviewed.
Our PCSOs have been actively supporting individuals struggling with drug or alcohol addiction, while also maintaining a high-visibility presence in areas where drug supply and use have been reported.

Theft of Pedal Cycles

With the warmer weather approaching an increase of pedal cycles are seen within the City. Unfortunately this often results in a spike of theft of pedal cycles. The beat team will be taking proactive and informative steps to prevent this happening.

April Update;
Beat surgeries have been scheduled for bike registrations, offering advice to the public on securing their bicycles properly. Tailored online posts will also be available, providing guidance on preventing cycle crime.

May Update;
We’ve also been providing crime prevention advice to members of the public, particularly around securing bicycles using appropriate D-style locks. These efforts have contributed to several successful arrests of individuals suspected of bike theft.
