Current Priorities

Issue

On-going issues surrounding inappropriate road use around schools in the area.

Action

We will work with local schools and agencies to seek long term solutions. We will engage with road safety teams in order to offer education and will carry out enforcement where appropriate. We will hold speed checks and carry out frequent patrols at the relevant times.

We have conducted a number of visits during relevant times. We also have a number of enforcement operations planned, working in conjunction with colleagues from NWLDC.

We have conducted a number of school visits in company with enforcement colleagues from NWLDC. This has resulted in a number of tickets being issued and hopefully our presence will assist in reducing the issue.
With thanks to colleagues in the Road Safety Partnership we have also secured new signage for all of our Primary Schools which we again hope will encourage responsible road use around our primary schools.

Issue

We have received numerous reports from the Belvoir Centre relating to general anti social behaviour from young people who are meeting in large numbers at the shopping centre. This is causing issues to local security and also members of the public using the facilities within the centre.

Action

The safety of all users and staff members at the shopping centre is a priority for the local beat team and we take all reports made to us seriously.

We have conducted a number of patrols in the area, both in conjunction with a focused ASB week and on-going patrols. We are liaising with the management at the centre as well as other partners and are looking at long term solutions to the issue and preventative measures.

Following some proactive measures in the centre including a dispersal order we have seen a reduction in the issues.
We have also worked closely with the security teams within the Belvoir Centre and following a change of contract soon we are looking forward to further improvements in the area.

The area will remain a priority going in to the New Year as we look to put longer standing measures in place in order to engage our youths and divert them from this behaviour.

Following further issues with young people in the town centre we have visited further young people with their parents and have issued warning letters and initiated anti-social behaviour contracts.
We are also working closely with partners to develop engagement opportunities with Sports Clubs.

We are continuing to have pockets of ASB within the town center and are working closely with security teams at the Belvoir Centre as well as local traders to ensure we are taking appropriate action.
We are also continuing to engage with the young people and their parents to try and combat this issue.

Partners are heavily involved and we are also progressing plans to implement diversionary activities to engage and educate our youth.

Meetings and engagement with partners is on-going to implement long term solutions. We are working with youth engagement partners and hope to share plans soon.

We have held further meeting with partners and we are working towards a joined response to long term solutions.

We have continued to receive reports of youths causing issues within the town centre. We are still working with CCTV and Security partners and continue to take action against those identified to be causing harm.

Issue

We have had issues associated with youths purchasing alcohol and vapes at local retailers raised to us. These being underage and illegally sold.

Action

We have conducted a test purchase operation in the town centre which also raised concerns. As a result we will target this area, completing further operations and working with colleagues in licensing to ensure our town centre is safe and legal.

We are working with colleagues in Licensing and continue to monitor those establishments reported to us. We have further enforcement operations planned to tackle this issue.

We have now completed a further test purchase operation in the town centre and are pleased to report out of 6 retailers tested, 5 passed the operation and requested identification from the young person involved.
With regard to the retailer that failed the test purchase, we are working with them to ensure staff are appropriately trained and appropriate enforcement action has been taken.

We have further operations planned throughout the coming months.
