Current Priorities

Issue

ASB in Greenhill – several calls about groups of youths banging doors and windows

Action

You said teenagers banging on and kicking doors in the Greenhill and Agar Nook area has been a problem recently.

We have responded to this concern by carrying out a number of targeted patrols in areas including Thringstone, Whitwick, Greenhill and Agar Nook. Over May there were 11 different days that had patrols on foot and in marked and unmarked vehicles

Investigations identified one youth responsible for issues in the area. They were dealt with for causing ASB in the community and engaged in some consequential litter picking as penance.

Issue

Vehicles speeding along residential roads and parking, particularly outside schools.

Action

You said vehicles speeding along residential roads is a problem and parking, particularly outside schools, is also a problem.

We have responded by conducting a number of patrols along roads highlighted to the police as having parking issues.
These include around a number of schools such as Hugglescote Primary School, Broom Leys Primary School, St John the Baptist Primary School, Holycross Primary School, Castle Rock School, Warren Hills County Primary School and Newbridge High School.

These school visits are something the Beat Team will continue as they ebb and flow in severity.

We will also be conducting speeding checks on identified streets raised as problematic.

Issue

ASB from off road motorbikes in Thringstone, Whitwick, Greenhill, Bardon and Battram.

Action

You said off road motorbikes are causing anti-social behaviour (ASB) with their noise and dangerous riding, flouting of road traffic regulations and disrespect for the environment.

We have completed a number of patrols in locations such as Whitwick (Hermitage Recreation Ground), Thringstone (Melrose Estate), Grace Dieu Woods, Greenhill, Agar Nook and Battram Woods. These have been made on foot and with the use of vehicles. In uniform and in covert, plain clothes. A total of 13 days had patrols dedicated to this priority over May.

A s.59 Police Reform Act notice has been issued to one rider and one ASB causing off road bike seized for destruction.
