Current Priorities
Issue
ASB INCLUDING DRUG MISUSE AND VIOLENT ACTS IN AND AROUND HOOD PARK IN ASHBY
Action
You told us that there are issues with predominantly young people using drugs and getting into fights on Hood park in Ashby
We will aim to reduce these issues and support local residents who have voiced their concerns over incidents of such activity over the next 3 months.
We have been working with Ashby Town Council who have some exciting plans for development of Hood Park which should make it a more enjoyable space and a safer environment for everyone.
We have been regularly patrolling the park and engaging with those using it especially in the early evenings.
We have also conducted patch walks with some of our partner agencies to help share the knowledge and tasking for the issue.
Issue
ROAD SAFETY INITIATIVE ON WOOD STREET IN ASHBY
Action
You said there are problems with speeding vehicles and a general build up of traffic issues on Wood Street, Ashby due to the work being carried out on the Money Hill development.
We will focus our attention on speed enforcement and other related traffic issues in and around Wood Street.
We have been in regular attendance at the location conducting speed checks and traffic monitoring,
So far speed has been relatively low but the traffic build up due to roadworks has been heavy. This is something we are discussing with developers.
While present we have enforced some related traffic offences making use of ANPR.
We will continue to target this issue and keep you updated.
Issue
ANTI-SOCIAL USE OF MOTOR VEHICLES (WITH PARTICULAR EMPHASIS ON ‘CAR CRUISING’) THROUGHOUT ASHBY AREA
Action
You said that there is an issue with vehicles meeting and driving in an anti social manner (cruising) in and around Ashby, especially down the A511 Bypass.
After we completed a great deal of work with Tesco, Ashby to help alleviate a similar issue in their car park it appears the issues have merged out around the Town. We will focus on the impact these individuals are having on our public roads and take appropriate action against them for speeding, driving in an anti social manner or engaging in cruise activity where it puts public safety at risk.
So far we have conducted lots of patrols in the evenings at the times when this issues are most prevalent.
We have conducted speed checks in the area and have made use of ANPR technology to deal with any driving document offences.
We will continue to take positive action against anyone causing ASB in their vehicles in order to tackle this problem.
