ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR-

We have had reports of motorbikes over speeding at Badger Avenue leading to the train tracks using the level crossing as a cut through.

Reports of parents parking inconsiderately when dropping off/picking their children up after school.

We have made this our priority to patrol these areas as much as we can.

ASB-Through Neighbourhood Link, ASB Call Backs and Social Media accounts, the community have raised the issue of Anti-Social Behaviour on the Melton Town South Beat.

The beat team have continued to patrol Badger Avenue and surrounding streets due to reports of motorbike riders causing a nuisance and using the level crossing as a cut through. Any identified riders will be dealt with accordingly using Section 59 powers as part of the ASB Act along with any driving offences.

We've had reports of cannabis being used around Oxbow Close which can be smelt by the students in the school grounds behind. A recent joint visit with the local housing officer has been made and the identified address and occupant has been issued with a written warning.

We have had reports that persons are using the park area on Lowesby Close to smoke cannabis and when returning to their vehicles at unsociable hours are causing noise nuisance. We are actively patrolling the area and any drivers suspected of drug use will be dealt with.

We continue to patrol the schools on the beat around opening and closing time offering reassurance and advising any drivers about inconsiderate parking.

We fully appreciate the negative impact resulting from ASB and how it can affect people mentally and physically, so please do not hesitate to report ASB to Police online via https://www.leics.police.uk/ , or by calling the Police on 101, (always 999 in an emergency).

Your dedicated neighbourhood beat officers are actively patrolling patrolling around the schools, we are also prioritising certain areas marked as ASB hot spots especially the nuisance bikers.

SPEEDING-Through Neighbourhood Link, reports made direct to officers and the force, the community have raised the issues of road safety and speeding vehicles on the Melton Town South Beat.

Although this is not speeding issue,we have had reports of HGV vehicles going through the weight restricted zones on Norfork Drive,Sandy Lane and Craven Street.

We are doing our best to put our speed calming measures where we can, by either using Speed cameras or just our presence! By conducing speed checks and speed calming measures regularly in the area it will decrease the speed of most if not all of the vehicles.

The speed monitoring van is also regularly at locations on the Melton Town South beat.

We are aware of HGVs using weight restricted areas throughout the beat and we have sent out multiple letters to the companies issuing them with warnings. We will continue to monitor and patrol the identified areas.

We have also sent out a communication on our Neighbourhood Link Portal asking the Melton Town South Residents where the speed concern areas are. We look forward to completing further speed monitoring and speed calming measures in the areas they have advised us.

DRUG DEALING-Through Neighbourhood Link, Social Media accounts, and direct community feedback and information, the community have raised the issue of Drug Dealing on the Melton Town South Beat.

We continue to conduct high visible foot patrols around the areas that we suspect drug dealing is occurring.

The beat team have been liaising with the Community Safety Team whereby intelligence was provided that a vulnerable female was potentially a victim of Cuckooing. Cuckooing is a practice where people take over a persons home and use the property to facilitate exploitation. There are different types of cuckooing: Using the property to steal, store or take drugs.

The beat team have attended with officers from the Community Safety Team and the female has been placed into emergency accommodation and she has voluntarily given the keys to her property to housing officers. The property has been secured so no persons can now enter and we continue to work with our partner agencies to safeguard the victim in this case.

We continue to support the most vulnerable persons in the community and visiting those that we have identified as being at risk of cuckooing.
