Drugs – We are aware that drugs have been a priority on the Saffron / Freemen beat for a while and this is going to continue. Officers have conducted a number of drugs warrants in relation to Clear, Hold, Build / Safer Saffron (CHB). We will continue to work hard to gain intelligence and bring offenders before the courts.

A cannabis grow was located at an address on Lothair Road after a report of suspicious activity in the area, police attended and discovered cannabis plants and cultivation equipment inside which was cleared and a nearby vehicle was also seized, an investigation is ongoing to identify those involved.

ASB – The area of Old Saffron Lane, Saffron Lane sports stadium and Maris Lane were added as priorities in April and we will be continuing with these for the next three months. You have told us ASB is on the rise with the lighter evenings and we will continue to tackle this issue along with partner agencies

These areas have continued to be patrolled by the local team and we are happy to report that there have been no significant reports made to us over the school holidays, it appears warnings issued at the start of the summer have been effective and adhered to. Work in this area has continued with local businesses, centres and partner agencies and the overall view is that the summer has been positive and passed without repeat and ongoing issues.

You have told us that general ASB across the estate is continuing, especially in the warmer weather, and it often involves young people.

Last month two individuals were issued verbal warnings after CCTV was obtained showing them engaging in repeat ASB in the Saffron Lane estate, since then there have been no repeat problems. The Safer Summer initiative will continue to operate throughout September aimed at reducing ASB in the community and officers will be out conducting visible patrols in hotspot areas.
