Current Priorities

Issue

Drugs – We are aware that drugs have been a priority on the Saffron / Freemen beat for a while and this is going to continue. Officers have conducted a number of drugs warrants in relation to Clear, Hold, Build / Safer Saffron (CHB). We will continue to work hard to gain intelligence and bring offenders before the courts.

Action

We continue to build on information to gather the necessary evidence to conduct warrants and identify locations where drugs are being sold and used. This month several stop searches have been conducted by officers where cannabis has been seized and we will continue to be visible and patrol hotspot locations.

Issue

ASB – The area of Old Saffron Lane, Saffron Lane sports stadium and Maris Lane will be our priorities over the next three months as you have told us ASB is on the rise with the lighter evenings.

Action

We have worked with the community to obtain CCTV from residents of offenders and work is ongoing to identify those involved. Patrols will continue to be conducted in these areas and we are working with local business, the Saffron Lane stadium and the Aylestone Leisure to deter and prevent issues at these locations and the wider area.

Issue

You have told us that general ASB across the estate continues, often involving young people. With the lighter evenings and school holidays approaching we will be looking to identify those involved and offer educational advice and dealing with offences when identified.

Action

The team have conducted patrols in areas where we have seen the most reports of ASB, engaged with the community and obtained CCTV which has been shared with local schools. As a result, several verbal warnings have been issued to offenders. Work has also been completed with partners from the Leicester City Councils ASB team to identify, prevent and deter issues.
