Current Priorities

Issue

A risk to the community has been identified as regularly taking place on Bonney Road. Young people using stolen motor cycles regularly attend the location and ride in a dangerous manner. Weapons have also been reported as being carried by those who attend the location.

Action

A significant arrest of a young person has been made recently and they have been released on bail whilst we make further enquiries. PC MARTIN from the local beat team will now try and divert this young person away from being involved in further offending.
A new 'Open' meeting with residents is planned for June to ensure we have all the current information about what is happening in Bonney Road

Issue

Reports highlighting dangerous behaviour from people using motor vehicles on the Western ward have been received.
Speeding, unlawful use of Ebikes/Scooters and dangerous parking outside school gates have all be highlighted as a concern for the community.

Action

A traffic enforcement operation took place on 28th May 2025 where officers targeted Speeding motorists at 3 locations across the beat.
Speeding fines were issued, a male was arrested for driving whilst disqualified and a vehicle was seized for being used without insurance.

Issue

Violence, drug supply and cuckooing have all been reported around the Burns flats over the last few weeks. These events are concerning and put all members of the community at risk.

Action

We are currently supporting a number of local people at risk of being cuckooed.
Last week we arrested a male found in a vehicle just off Aikman Ave who was found in possession of two weapons and a large quantity of class A drugs.
Two addition Policing operations will take place during June targeting those causing the most harm.
