Current Priorities
Issue
We have had an increase in reports of Anti social behaviour in and around the area of The Dales.
Residents have been reporting youths throwing items at houses, and knocking on doors.
Action
Officers from the Beat Team have been actively patrolling the Beaumont Leys area, including conducting several hours of plain clothes operations to enhance visibility and gather intelligence discreetly.
Members of the public reported a male acting suspiciously in the vicinity. Officers swiftly located the individual, who was subsequently arrested for multiple offences. Following further investigation, the suspect was charged with assaulting a police officer.
This incident highlights the value of community vigilance and the effectiveness of proactive policing in addressing emerging concerns.
Issue
YOU SAID.
We have received concerns from retailers and Security at the Beaumont Leys Shopping centre that there is still a significant problem with Anti-social Behaviour caused by youths
Action
The Beat Team, alongside the newly formed Safer Streets Team, conducted a high-visibility patrol of the Beaumont Leys shopping centre. Officers engaged positively with a number of local youths and store staff, reinforcing community relationships and promoting a safe and welcoming environment.
In support of ongoing youth engagement, the Beaumont Leys Partnership has launched a summer programme offering safe and enjoyable activities for young people throughout the holiday period. This initiative aims to provide positive alternatives and reduce the risk of anti-social behaviour (ASB).
Additionally, a multi-agency meeting was held with major stakeholders to address current issues affecting the area. Discussions focused on improving the reporting and response to crime and ASB, with a shared commitment to collaborative problem-solving and long-term community safety.
Issue
Residents are concerned over an increase in Antisocial Behaviour, residential Burglaries, and theft from Motor vehicles in the Area of Heathley Park.
Action
High-Visibility Patrols & Crime Monitoring – Beaumont Leys
The Beat Team has continued to carry out regular high-visibility patrols across the area. These proactive efforts are aimed at maintaining community reassurance and deterring criminal activity.
To date, no suspicious activity has been identified during these patrols. A review of reported crime since 1st July shows only one recorded incident — a parcel theft from a doorstep. This low level of reported crime is a positive indicator of the current policing presence and community engagement.
