Current Priorities
Issue
Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) in and around Braunstone Park and Cort Crescent has again been identified as a priority concern from the community and now with the lighter nights arriving we will continue to target and focus on this area of concern.
Action
WE DID - We have continued to provide hot-spot patrols and re-assurance in May. Whilst there is still ASB in the park there has for the second month in a row been a significant reduction in offences relating to items being thrown at vehicles.
Of note however, we have seen an increase in the number of small grass fires being set within the park itself. This is a very dangerous issue due to the recent hot and dry weather and could easily get out of control or cause significant harm and/or injury. We can update though that 2 youths have been interviewed in relation to this and are currently under investigation as a result.
Issue
From Community Surveys and Feedback on Neighbourhood Link, Road Safety has been highlighted to be a local concern for our Beat. As such we will continue to keep this as a priority and Speeding vehicles has been identified as being one of the main points of concern within the community.
Action
In May WE DID - 2 vehicles have been seized from our Beat area for NO TAX using powers provided to the Police under DVLA guidance. We have continued to seize vehicles being driven on our roads without valid Insurance or Drivers Licences and a further 8 vehicles have been recovered in May and those drivers have also been reported for consideration of prosecution. We have been conducting speed enforcement checks with our speed camera at identified hotspots within the community and are glad to report on our visits only advice has been issued to a few as most people were driving at safe speeds.
2 Stolen vehicles have been recovered and are currently subject to forensic examinations in the hope we can identify those responsible for stealing them, and 2 vehicles have been issues Penalty notices for causing an obstruction based on the drivers inappropriate parking styles at junctions and on pavements.
Issue
From the Surveys on Neighbourhood Link you have told us that drug dealing and usage at addresses across the Braunstone and Rowley Fields area is your top concern and problem that you want us to keep focus on - so we are!
Action
We DID! As promised we have carried on with targeting those people or addresses that are concerned in the use or supply of illegal drugs. 2 Section 8 PACE Warrants have been executed at addresses on Wolverton Road, and a further Warrant was executed by partner agencies at an address on Overpark Avenue where Cannabis Farms were located at all 3 addresses.
Enforcement was also conducted at an address on Howarth Place and several arrests were made in connection to the Supply of Drugs. Investigations in relation to all addresses are underway by our Neighbourhood officers.
This should be a reminder to all tenants or occupiers of addresses that the Police, Landlords and other partners will work together to enforce and prosecute where necessary.
