Current Priorities

Issue

ASB

Action

Focus on drug supply, sex working, associated serious violent crime and ASB. This area covers Kensington, Prescot Road, Sheil Road and Newsham Park. The team are trying to tackle the root cause of serious violence within the area, which has been identified as drug use and supply. Targeted high visibility hot spot policing is taking place within the area and the team are actively identifying premises and individuals linked to drug supply. There is a strong partnership group within the area, which has led to investment in target hardening and improvements to CCTV and lighting across the area. This problem solving work is ongoing alongside Liverpool City Council and several registered social landlords.

Over the last three months the team have been involved in the arrest of several street level drug dealers. They have conducted multiple warrants across the neighbourhood. Resulting in the seizure of large amounts of drugs and several viable firearms. As a longer term preventative measure, the team have successfully applied and served a closure order on a problem premises located on Hinton Street.

Issue

An encampment has been set up at the junction of Beech Street and Prescot Road. This is a combination of tents and pallets, with multiple people sleeping rough at this location. There are issues around drug use and potential sex working at the location. People who frequent this location are harassing local residents and causing issues within local businesses.

Action

An officer has been assigned to this problem and a problem oriented policing plan has been completed. This plan pulls together partners who a responsibility of addressing this issue together. These include Liverpool City Council, MFRS and local businesses, working in partnership with the police.

This is a relatively new problem identified to ourselves and we are currently looking at the best course of action. This is to ensure the problem is effectively dealt with, rather than a short term solution or simply relocating the problem to another part of the neighbourhood.
