Issue

Robbery and Violence Against Women and Girls

Action

Tackling cycle enabled mobile phone robberies on the ward and offering crime prevention advice to potential victims. Hot spots on the ward include Great Dover Street, Newington Causeway, Borough High Street and New Kent Road.
The team have been providing a high visibility police presence in locations where offences are being committed to prevent and disrupt criminality taking place.
High visibility patrols in and around the ward in target areas to tackle Violence Against Women and Girls. Giving crime prevention advice directly to members of the public and working with partner agencies and venues to promote VAWG initiatives and raise awareness.

Issue

Anti-Social Behaviour being caused by street drinkers, beggars and street population across the ward.

Action

Ward officers have been targeting specific locations where groups of the street population and street drinkers are causing nuisance to local residents. We have been applying a consistent approach to enforcement using our community protection powers such as ASB warnings, community protection notice warnings and community protection notices to stop and prevent this activity from taking place. Additionally, this activity is being prevented and disrupted with regular hi visibility police patrols. We have been working with partner agencies in order to signpost those in need of support and rehabilitation services and prevent further ASB being caused.

Issue

Drugs Activity - drug use and drug dealing

Action

Drug users affecting the local community in and around housing estates and parks having a detrimental effect on residents wellbeing.
The team conduct regular patrols in the areas where drug offences are occurring and disrupt those who are offending. The team have been using stop and search powers to aid in tackling this issue resulting in seizing drugs off the streets, arrests, charges and convictions at court. We have obtained Closure Orders at court for a number of properties being used as drug dens, shutting down illegal drugs operations and safeguarding vulnerable people.
