Current Priorities

Issue

Violence VAWG Public Safety
The Violence against Women and Girls initiative. The VAWG was formed to fight crime against women and girls and increase the Safety and feeling of Safety for Women and Girls
1. Protecting women and girls in public spaces, at home and online
2. Working with our partners and with women to improve prevention and victim care
3. Bringing offenders to justice and improving criminal justice outcomes for victims
4. Improving Met culture and professional standards

Action

Research of intelligence system to identify locations for patrols and potential offenders. High visibility patrols and promoting of crime prevention through social media and engagement with the community.
In and Around Newton Park West and Ecology Park.
Violence is a key priority for the MPS and needs addressing
This activity will be recorded over the period of 3 months and reviewed at the next ward panel meeting on 17th September 2025

Issue

The local team will prioritise anti-social behaviour. Specifically Street Drinking and associated ASB which breaches of the public space protection order PSPO
The local ward team will triage allegations of ASB in the community which are reported to police. Persons identified as causing ASB will be engaged with and where the evidence supports, issued with prohibitions under community protection legislation to address these behaviours

Action

The ward team are actively involved in reducing ASB as part of our core duties and therefore with some intensification, this should be achievable
DWOs and PCSO to patrol the area and deal with Street Drinking (issuing Community Protection Warnings to whom it applies).
This priority has been set by the Ward Panel members and therefore is relevant
This activity will be recorded over the period of 3 months and reviewed at the next ward panel meeting on 17th September 2025

Issue

The Local team will prioritise more engagement with our community and specifically in how to report crime or Anti Social Behaviour
With a new Communication Tool being introduced on June 25th named MET-ENGAGE
This will enable us to maximise our reach to our ward members about ways we can communicate to them
The panel felt there is a fear of reprisals when reporting crime and having to give personal details when doing so
There is a larger fear or crime than actual crime and we will aim to reduce this
This activity will be recorded over the period of 3 months and reviewed at the next ward panel meeting on 17th September 2025
