Current Priorities
Issue
1. Violence – This is a broad category that can include all violence types and can include gangs, drugs, domestic assaults, violence against women and vulnerable people, public space safety, alcohol fuelled violence and anti-social behaviour linked to violence. As the days are getting longer officers will predominantly target the areas with the heaviest footfall of High Road, Broad Lane and Monument Way.
The ward Panel met on the 21/05/25 and the ward priority remains the same.
Action
South Tottenham ward continue to carry out High Visibility and plain clothes patrols on the ward.
This has included violence against women and girls’ patrols and engagement to reassure the community.
Prolific offenders have been targeted through the use of stop and search and powers under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act.
This has resulted in the issue of Anti-Social Behaviour warnings, Community Protection Warnings and Community Protection Notices.
Offenders who have breached these orders have also been arrested by officers.
In addition, Operation’s Pilotis, Redding, Ratio and Operation Fresh have all seen extensive patrols in the area with the arrest of wanted offenders for offences of Robbery and Burglary.
Whilst engaged in Operation Fresh Officers came across a domestic assault which resulted in the arrest of an offender.
Designated ward officers and a design out crime officer have recently conducted an Environmental Visual Audit of Ferry Lane to identify areas that may be contributing towards anti-social behaviour and a fear of crime.
Police will be working in partnership with the council to address this issue and also to reassure the local community.
Issue
This was a Robbery Priority but as this has now seen a reduction in offences and the ward is seeing an increase in Theft Person Offences this priority has now changed.

Work continues in this area working closely with our neighbouring ward Seven Sisters and recently a prolific offender was arrested who was wanted for Theft and known for Burglary offences.
Knife Arch Operations also conducted with Seven Sister’s ward to deter offenders who are carrying knives in the area.
The ward panel met on the 21/05/25 and the ward priorities remain the same.
Issue
Shoplifting Tottenham Hale Retail Park.
Increase in shoplifting in the area that is impacting the local business community and also contributing to localised anti-social behaviour.

Action

Top five offenders identified and this has been the focus of local policing teams, with the Town Centre Team arresting four of those offenders.
This will continue to be our focus as a team.
Top five locations also identified and extra funding secured for extra patrols in this area.
Prolific Offenders will be progressed to Criminal Behaviour Orders to manage the ongoing issues.
Use of the outreach van to provide extra visibility in the area to deliver crime prevention advice an reassure the public.
This is to raise awareness. The use of police volunteers to support with this will also feature in this plan.
