Current Priorities
Issue
Violence with Injury offences - Met Wide
Action
Based on the intel available through our systems, current data supports this assessment. However, community feedback and reports received by the team indicate that the residents feel most unsafe in the Dunfield, Lushington and Sedgehill areas
The SNT will continue to carry out targeted patrols in these locations to provide a visible presence and offer reassurance to the community
SNT officers will engage with members of the public to encourage the use of the Street Safe tool to anonymously record the areas of Bellingham in which they feel least safe and why.
Issue
Largely drug related and begging in the Bell Green Retail Park
Action
This area has a begging issue around Sainsbury’s and some of the other businesses in the retail park which also incorporates
the use of drugs
Shop fronts have also been damaged on a number of occasions by youths during school holidays
The team are in contact with local businesses in the retail park, and are continuing to patrol the area on foot, covert, and mobile
These issues have been addressed in part through the use of criminal behaviour orders and drug related arrest by the team
Issue
Spate of catalytic converter thefts led to increased reporting of TFMV offences. Officers to patrol and look to deter.
Action
Although the recent trend is that LOS vehicles are not being found on the Bellingham ward as much as they previously were. This could well be in part to the dedication of the ward PC who has found numerous LOS vehicles in the past and may be the deterrent needed that has supported this current trend in the data
To combat this the team ensure to be out as a visible presence to deter any further TFMV/TOMV on the ward. The team also patrol hotspots where cars have been discarded previous in an attempt to recover as many stolen vehicles as possible
