Action

You Said, We Did - October 2024 to March 2025

Road Safety & Road Traffic Offences

Action

You Said, We Did - October 2024 to March 2025
•A young male received a Section 59 Police Reform Act Warning for anti-social use of his vehicle in Orion Drive in Brackley – the use of this road in this manner has been referred to a Joint Action Group (multi-agency) to consider any other options to disrupt and detect this type of behaviour.
•Residents in Silverstone have raised concerns over the volume of traffic displaced through the village due to A43 roadworks. As a result, additional mobile speed camera work will be undertaken and the road contractors are looking at improved signage to alleviate some of the issues.
•Officers have conducted proactive patrols and dealt with drivers for various offences, including lack of insurance or tax, mobile phone use and not wearing a seatbelt.
•Speed enforcement checks have been carried out across the area in locations where speeding has been raised as a concern by the community.
•Sixth form students at Campion, Sponne and EWS Roade schools have received an input about road safety, including the effects of drink and drug driving, the importance of ensuring vehicles are road worthy and the consequences of driving offences
•A Christmas drink drive campaign saw officers completing proactive patrols and delivering drink and drug driving awareness literature to rural public houses.
•Officers in Brackley continue to actively enforce insurance requirements related to delivery drivers.
•A number of licensing issues related to taxi drivers operating without their plates being displayed have been identified, and these have been reported back to the relevant licensing authority to enforce.
•Officers completed a multi-agency enforcement day on the A5 near Towcester. Results included three tyre related offences, one offence of no tachograph fitted, three overweight vehicles, 11 vehicles with insecure loads, one vehicle with no insurance, 15 incidents, where words of advice were given, including insurance admin issues, defective lights, and vehicle modifications. Two drivers were reported for driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and officers made one arrest of a male in connection with a theft offence.
