Action

We’re continuing to target known offenders and support repeat victims with crime prevention.? Local neighbourhood officers take responsibility for targeting repeat offenders, adopting a problem-solving approach to the issue.?A Shopwatch scheme has been set up in Newbottle providing retailers with information-sharing on perpetrators and a direct radio link to neighbourhood officers, enabling a swift police response. Criminal behaviour orders have been sought for prolific offenders to provide a longer term deterrent.

Anti-Social Behaviour in Houghton and Hetton

Action

The neighbourhood team continues to run increased patrols to deter anti-social behaviour. We are work with housing providers, anti-social enforcement officers and tenancy departments to target repeat offenders. We regularly meet with residents and councillors to ensure we’re gathering intelligence.??

Anti-social behaviour and motorcycle Disorder around Penshaw and Mount Pleasant, Herrington Park and parts of Easington

Action

We’ve carried out high profile days of action, with more in the pipeline. On these days we designate an increased number of resources to the specific issue, alongside partners, plain clothes officers and drones to target perpetrators. Outcomes so far have included bikes being seized, warning notices issued and prosecutions for driving offences. Support from partners such as the Local Authority and Gentoo allow us to also use civil orders and tenancy enforcement.
