https://www.nottinghamshire.police.uk/neighbourhood/mansfield-southThe Mansfield South Neighbourhood Policing Team cover the following beat areas:
Berry Hill
Eakring
Oak Tree
Lindhurst
Ravensdale
The current local policing priorities for the area are:
Shop Theft
Vehicle ASB
Drug Dealing
Current Priorities
Issue
Vehicle related ASB is still persistent in Mansfield both on and off road. Key locations are the Odeon Cinema, Asda and Fulmar Close at Forest Town as well as the A617 Rainworth By-Pass. We are looking at cross border operations with Derbyshire and working with our colleagues in Bassetlaw and Newark and Sherwood to tackle the off road issues.
Action
Targeted Operations
We continue to address vehicle-related anti-social behaviour (ASB) across Mansfield, particularly in the southern areas. Recent operations under Operation Nebraska and in open-air car parks have led to the issuing of Section 35 dispersal notices and Section 59 warnings, helping to deter nuisance behaviour.
We are also actively managing concerns in areas such as Pleasley and Desert, where off-road bike use has been reported. Problem-solving plans are in place to address these issues.
Summer Enforcement Activity
Joint operations with our off-road bike team are ongoing throughout the summer. To support this work, we’ve secured the use of a Hilux vehicle from Ollerton for two months, enhancing our ability to respond to incidents in hard-to-reach areas.
Challenges and Progress
While off-road bike-related ASB presents a persistent challenge, particularly due to the high threshold required for authorised pursuit, our officers have successfully seized several off-road bikes in recent months. We remain committed to tackling this issue while balancing public safety and confidence.
Fatal Four Enforcement
We continue to run Fatal Four operations—targeting speeding, mobile phone use, seatbelt offences, and drink/drug driving—in areas highlighted by members of the public and community partners.
Community Engagement and Intelligence Gathering
We are working in partnership with the local MP’s office to improve the reporting and handling of off-road bike intelligence. This includes:
Beat surgeries
Public communications
A dedicated email address for reporting concerns
Priority Focus
Vehicle-related ASB remains the most reported ASB type in Mansfield, covering issues such as:
E-scooter misuse
Off-road bikes
Traffic concerns near schools
Night-time economy disturbances
Car meets and speeding
Given its impact, vehicle-related ASB will remain one of our three policing priorities, ensuring dedicated time and resources are focused on reducing harm and improving community safety
Issue
Mansfield district still continues to see issues with shop theft. This does not detract from the 30% decrease in shop lifting it still remains our highest crime type. We are still working closely with our partners to tackle this.
Action
Operation Amberstag – Town Centre Focus
We continue to deliver proactive policing through Operation Amberstag, targeting crime and anti-social behaviour in Mansfield Town Centre.
Crime Trends and Outcomes
Over the past 12 months, Mansfield has seen a 30% reduction in shop theft, equating to 640 fewer offences. This compares favourably to a 10% reduction in Ashfield.
Our positive outcome rate for shop theft in Mansfield stands at 25.7%, reflecting the proportion of offenders dealt with through charges, court summons, fixed penalty notices, or community resolutions.
Ongoing Priorities
Shop theft remains the most prevalent crime type in Mansfield. All of the top 10 repeat offenders are linked to shoplifting, and 6 of the top 10 offence locations are businesses reporting shop theft. This type of crime is often associated with other issues such as anti-social behaviour, begging, drug use and dealing, and organised criminal groups.
Local Problem-Solving Initiatives
Recent work around Asda and Bancroft Lane has concluded successfully, with a completed problem-solving plan. Our focus now shifts to addressing concerns near B&M and Baums Lane. We also hold weekly partnership meetings with Tesco at Oak Tree, strengthening collaboration with local businesses.
Issue
Drug dealing still continues to cause issues across the Mansfield area. It impacts on other crime around the district and it is important that we try to police it proactively.

Drugs and Anti-Social Behaviour – Mansfield Update
Warrant and Intelligence Activity
Neighbourhood Policing Teams (NPT) are actively developing intelligence for multiple addresses in relation to suspected drug-related offences. This includes:
10 addresses under development for potential warrants linked to possession with intent to supply (PWITS).
3 addresses being monitored for suspected cannabis cultivation.
3 additional addresses being developed through intelligence for PWITS.
One warrant is currently awaiting execution, with a Closure Order also being considered following previous enforcement activity at the same location.
Recent Enforcement Results (20 June – 20 July 2025)
2 warrants executed, both yielding positive results, including one involving a vulnerable adult.
30 arrests for drug possession:
22 for Class B substances
8 for Class A substances
Operation Conclusion – Tackling Exploitation
This operation continues to provide valuable intelligence and joint working opportunities around properties suspected of being exploited (commonly referred to as "cuckooing"). NPT officers are actively investigating a number of locations where this may be occurring.
Community and Partner Engagement
There have been no further reports of the previously identified harmful batch of synthetic cannabinoids ("Mamba").
Concerns have been raised by local support organisations regarding suspected drug dealing near their premises. In response:
Patrol plans and drop-in visits have been implemented.
A dedicated reporting channel has been re-shared with partner agencies to improve intelligence sharing.
Early morning patrols in the town centre have been increased to address drug-related anti-social behaviour.
Future Plans and Priorities
A series of Operation Guardian deployments are planned for key weekends, including football fixtures and bank holidays, to target drug misuse in the town centre.
Given the ongoing issues, public reports, partner agency concerns, and wider public health implications, drug-related crime and anti-social behaviour will remain a local policing priority for the next quarter.
Issue
Drug dealing continues to impact communities across the district. This also effects the wider partnership and the public. It is important that this is maintained as a priority so that this receives enforcement, targeted action and problem solving efforts across the district.
Action
Warrants and Arrests
In the past month, one warrant was executed with positive results, and 22 arrests were made for drug possession. Two additional warrants are pending, with closure orders being considered.
Cuckooing Prevention
Officers are working with partners to identify and protect vulnerable residents from cuckooing. Intelligence-led patrols are targeting known hotspots.
Town Centre Patrols and Engagement
Early morning patrols have been introduced to address drug-related ASB in the town centre. Plans are in place for Operation Guardian on key weekends to tackle misuse and improve public safety.
Issue
Shop theft continues to be a in issue across the district, effecting the town centre and the wider district. Maintaining this as a priority ensures sustained enforcement, engagement and problem solving efforts. This has been raised again by the community and partner agencies.

Amberstag Operation Relaunch
A new phase of Operation Amberstag is planned for September to tackle shop theft, especially in high-demand areas. This follows a successful reduction in offences over the past year.
Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs)
Mansfield currently has 11 active CBOs targeting repeat shoplifters. These orders help restrict offender behaviour and support local businesses.
Positive Outcomes and Crime Reduction
Shop theft in Mansfield has dropped by 30% over the past 12 months, with a positive outcome rate of 32.3%. Continued focus on this priority is helping reduce associated issues like begging and drug misuse.
Issue
Despite targeted action vehicle related ASB is a pressing concern which has been raised by both the public and partner agencies.
Maintaining this as a priority ensures sustained enforcement, engagement and problem solving efforts across the district.
Action
Targeted Operations on Hotspots
Officers have conducted focused operations in areas such as Asda Forest Town and Fulmar Close, resulting in vehicle seizures and dispersal notices. These efforts are part of ongoing work to tackle nuisance driving and off-road bike use.
Joint Forces Collaboration
Mansfield teams are working with Derbyshire and Worksop police units to address off-road vehicle ASB. Joint patrols are scheduled throughout September to increase visibility and enforcement.
