There are levels of antisocial behaviour in the town centre which people find unacceptable. Particular things which have been mentioned are groups of disorderly people in the transport interchange and beggars outside shops.

Antisocial behaviour in the town centre has halved over the last twelve months. We have increased patrols and have also dealt with a number of individuals whose behaviour has affected others. We are really grateful for the support that the public has given us during this time.

Our business community in the town centre tell us how badly affected they are by shoplifting. We want to help to tackle this.

We have set up a Business Crime Reduction Partnership where we have encouraged shops to use an easier method to pass on CCTV. We have also proactively identified a number of potential shoplifters and trawled through CCTV to find offences. We have also obtained a Criminal Behaviour Order against a prominent and prolific shoplifter.
